summer 2018 : What is the area like at night is it good for families? are there plenty of taxis around and is it walking distance to most attractions.

Yes, it is a safe area for families. We stayed about 3 blocks away for nearly 3 weeks and were able to walk or take the metro to all attractions. We did not use the taxis. Have fun.
