If you’ve got exhibition tickets, you join a different queue outside, so I don’t believe you need general admission tickets too to get in! If you’re worried about it, it’s free to reserve general admission so you can do that on top of your exhibition ticket to be safe. Aside from during Covid, I’ve never been asked for my general admission ticket so I wouldn’t worry too much :)

you don't need tickets for most of the museum, you can just turn up. are you talking about the travelling exhibitions?
