Rosyth is a town in Fife, Scotland, on the Firth of Forth. Scotland's first Garden City, the town is located 3 miles south of Dunfermline city centre and 10½ miles northwest of Edinburgh city centre. Rosyth town was founded in 1909 along with Rosyth naval dockyard, built as the coastal port of Dunfermline. Rosyth is near the narrowest crossing point of the Firth of Forth, so has long been strategically important, evidenced by the 15th century Rosyth Castle.
