Tyla's dress to the 2024 Met Gala was made for her, literally. Her Balmain gown was made of sand, and sculpted to fit her body. The dress was meant to evoke passing time, made more obvious by her hourglass handbag. The South African singer explained told Vogue how her dress is in line the with the evening's " Garden of Time" dress code.

Thanks to the expert craftsmanship of her beloved stylist, Law Roach, the Challengers star embraced all that is weird and wonderful about the Met, stepping out for her first look of the night wearing an iridescent peacock blue dress by Maison Margiela.

South African singer and songwriter Tyla made her Met Gala debut this year, stepping out in an incredible gown that appeared sculpted to her body and covered in sand. Made by Olivier Rousteing for Balmain, the textured gown made Tyla look like an artistic sculpture and resulted in her being carried up the stairs for fear of it getting damaged.

OK, the sand wasn’t literally dripping down, but it sure looked like it. With some master engineering at the hands of Olivier Rousteing at Balmain, Tyla was able to take on the Met steps looking like a walking hourglass.

Tyla, the singer known for her hit song 'Water,' wore a Balmain dress made out of sand for her Met Gala debut on Monday. In videos from the red carpet, the star was carried up the staircase as steps proved a challenge in the outfit.
