Police believe the driver killed in the western Massachusetts crash was "later dragged from the car by the bear."

A man who was dragged by a bear following a Hatfield, Massachusetts, car crash on Sunday was most likely dead at the time, State Police said.

Evidence suggests the bear at some point had made contact with the victim’s body,” State police wrote in a press release.

Daniel Ducharme, of South Hadley, was "either fully ejected or partially ejected and later dragged from the car by the bear," police said.
