Months after it shutdown the popular Switch emulator Yuzu over copyright infringement and piracy concerns, Nintendo has initiated a mass takedown of related backups and apparent clones on the Microsoft-owned platform Github.

With Yuzu taken down by Nintendo, emulation enthusiasts can still turn to Ryujinx or Egg NS for Switch game emulation. Emulation is thriving, with Delta emulator offering multiple Nintendo console emulation on iOS, while most developers tread carefully to avoid legal trouble.

Nintendo has issued a takedown request for more than 8,500 copies of code of Switch emulator Yuzu, which was shut down in March 2024 as its owners paid out $2.4 million in a lawsuit settlement.

Another month of victory for Nintendo as it succeeded once again in removing copies of Yuzu emulator on GitHub. It seems that its crackdown on Switch emulators shows no signs of stopping.

Nintendo continues to sweep the internet for Yuzu emulator files and spinoffs after its creators agreed to shut down and pay the game publisher $2.4 million.

A $2.4 million settlement with Nintendo effectively put an end to the development of the popular Switch emulator Yuzu, but it's not that easy to wipe a piece of software from the face of the internet.
