A part of Interstate 95 in Connecticut will remain shut down at least through this weekend following a gas tanker crash that caused a fire to erupt and damaged an overpass on Thursday, May 2.

For the second time in a year, a fuel tanker fire has closed significant portions of I-95.

"Our highways team is working closely with Connecticut's DOT on the tanker fire that has closed I-95 in Norwalk," Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said. "Please heed local authorities on detours and avoid the area if possible. Thank you to the first responders who are dealing with the fire and keeping other drivers safe."
