In Ann Arbor, the University of Michigan has seen repeated protests during its graduation festivities. One person was arrested Friday evening during a protest outside a dinner for recipients of honorary degrees, while the Saturday graduation ceremony saw cheers and boos as people brought Palestinian flags down the venue’s aisles.

Colleges and universities are increasing security after protesters have disrupted commencement ceremonies. Graduation season is starting at universities across the country, including some that have been roiled by pro-Palestinian protests and police clashes.

Even as graduation events near at schools like UCLA and USC, protester camps remain on campus after nearly a week of demonstrations.

Police on Saturday arrested at least 25 pro-Palestinian protesters and cleared an encampment at the University of Virginia, the university said in a statement, as U.S. campuses braced for more turmoil during graduation celebrations.
