Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said on Friday that the government would push ahead with the bill on "foreign agents" despite opposition from what he cast as "misled" youngsters who feel resentment towards Russia.

Georgia’s government appears unaware, or unperturbed, by the threat its so-called ‘foreign agents’ bill poses to the country’s investment climate, and its EU prospects.  This time, Georgia’s government looks set to push through controversial legislation that would oblige certain nongovernmental groups and media outlets to register as “organisations serving the interests of a foreign power”.

Georgia's ambassador to France resigned on Thursday over his country's draft law on "foreign agents", becoming the first senior official to do so and saying it would draw the South Caucasus nation away from a path of integration with Europe.
