The judge overseeing Donald Trump's criminal trial denied on Tuesday a mistrial request by Trump's lawyer, who argued the day's testimony by porn star Stormy Daniels about a 2006 encounter was irrelevant and would only inflame the jury.

The judge said in a five-page order Tuesday it would be “imprudent” to finalize a new trial date now, casting further doubt on federal prosecutors’ ability to bring Trump to trial before the November presidential election.
