DeKalb, Ill (WREX) -- In a show of solidarity with the Palestinian people, a peaceful protest has emerged on the campus of Northern Illinois University, echoing similar demonstrations sprouting across college campuses nationwide.

In addition to protests that led to clashes with police and mass arrests, pro-Palestinian supporters have gathered peacefully at UT for several days in the last week with rallies and teach-ins. Protesters also created an encampment at the campus on Monday in solidarity with others at several universities across the nation calling for their schools to divest from weapons manufacturers with ties to Israel and for a cease-fire in Gaza.
