Planet Fitness is hiking its base-level membership prices for new customers for the first time since 1998, even as the gym operator warns that customers are growing increasingly cost-conscious. The company reported weaker-than-expected first-quarter revenue and cut guidance for the fiscal year.

For now, no plans are in place to increase the price of the Black Card membership, which currently costs $25 per month and lets members bring a guest and access any Planet Fitness
