Police on Saturday arrested at least 25 pro-Palestinian protesters and cleared an encampment at the University of Virginia, the university said in a statement, as U.S. campuses braced for more turmoil during graduation celebrations.

Police broke up an encampment of anti-Gaza war protesters at the University of Virginia that campus police had called an “unlawful assembly.”

While the apparent end of Columbia’s pro-Palestinian encampments was marred by a takeover of a building, a mass arrest, and a widespread condemnation of the heavy police presence, encampments came down voluntarily at Brown and other peer institutions like Northwestern University.
