A Gardendale man died Monday morning after a piece of debris struck the truck he was driving on I-65 in Jefferson County, authorities said Monday evening. Jason H. Fields, 51, was driving a 2021 Ford Bronco on the interstate when the debris hit the truck around 10:50 a.

Fields was killed after debris struck his vehicle causing him to crash. Fields was pronounced dead at the scene. Nothing further is available as ALEA continues to investigate. This is the second debris-related incident on I-65 after another vehicle sustained punctured tires and a cracked windshield last week.
