Police in Boulder, Colo., shared an update last week on the cold case murder of 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey as the 28th anniversary of her killing approached.

Investigators are closer to finding out who killed 6-year-old JonBenét Ramsey nearly two decades after the child was found dead, sources told ABC News. ABC News reported that unidentified sources briefed on the investigation said a team of experts has been assigned to look at remaining evidence in the case and to “apply the most modern scientific and cold case techniques to try to solve the crime.

People familiar with the case say that new techniques are being applied to the investigation into the six-year-old’s death.
