Abortion and immigration are driving factors in the election in all corners of the country, but the issues are colliding in Arizona like few other battlegrounds.

Arizonans are preparing to vote on a state constitutional amendment to allow abortion up to the point of fetal viability.

The amendment on your ballot as Proposition 139 comes as access to abortion in Arizona has been in flux. A blockbuster state Supreme Court opinion that said a near-total ban on abortion could be enforced galvanized support for the campaign. The ban was repealed, however, leaving the state's current prohibition on most abortions after 15 weeks.

In states like Arizona and Nevada, the initiatives have overwhelming support in the polls, while pro-abortion rights Democrats are in much closer races.

Arizona is one of several states where right-leaning groups are backing conservative judges as they prepare to challenge newly passed ballot measures protecting abortion.
