Authorities said at least 24 people have died in flooding around Kerr County, Texas, and officials are still performing water rescues.

As in Friday’s flooding, in 1987, five to 10 inches of rain fell in the upper headwaters of the Guadalupe River basin. In Hunt, Texas, where the Guadalupe River forks, over seven inches had fallen since Thursday afternoon, which was the highest total at the site since the early 1990s.

Over 7 inches of rain fell in parts of the San Antonio area, according to the weather service. By midmorning, flooding was receding, though Platt noted that rain was still falling in some areas.
