Dozens of people have died after heavy rain pounded Kerr County, Texas, early Friday, leading to deadly and "catastrophic" flooding.

(Reuters) -Torrential rains unleashed flash floods along the Guadalupe River in Texas on Friday, killing at least 24 people as rescue teams scrambled to save dozens of victims trapped by high water or reported missing in the disaster, local officials said.

At least 15 children were among those killed by flooding in Central Texas. Some two dozen girls from a camp on the Guadalupe River remained unaccounted for.
