Authorities said at least 24 people have died in flooding around Kerr County, Texas, and officials are still performing water rescues.

As in Friday’s flooding, in 1987, five to 10 inches of rain fell in the upper headwaters of the Guadalupe River basin. In Hunt, Texas, where the Guadalupe River forks, over seven inches had fallen since Thursday afternoon, which was the highest total at the site since the early 1990s.

SAN ANTONIO (AP) — Heavy rains swamped San Antonio early Thursday, killing at least four people who were swept away in floodwaters as crews rescued dozens of others, officials said.

Search crews slogged through thick mud and debris Tuesday in central Texas, where more than 100 people are confirmed dead after catastrophic flooding. Pressure is growing on local officials to explain why more weren’t warned in time to escape.
