The fate of Big Lots in the Victor Valley is uncertain for now after the big box retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection.

Big Lots is planning to close stores as it goes through Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A store in Maryland left BI confused about the retailer's purpose.

The company still has two other Austin locations – one on Spicewood Springs Road and another on East William Cannon Drive – that were not included on the national shutdown list. Other Texas storefronts set to close include one in Dallas, one in San Antonio and two in Houston, to name a few.

Big Lots is closing more stores than it initially announced. The Columbus-based retailer, which is in the midst of a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization, now is closing at least 344 stores nationwide.

Closing more locations will allow the company to have a “more focused footprint” and conduct business efficiently, said President and CEO Bruce Thorn.
