E. coli was detected in two local water sources Tuesday. The boil water advisory was lifted Friday. But the public should still take certain steps.

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. (WVVA) - A boil water advisory has been issued for the Big Four Water System in McDowell County. The announcement was made on September 5 by the McDowell County Public Service District in a Facebook post on the McDowell County 911 & Office of Emergency Services page.

UPDATE 8/28/24: The latest boil water advisory was lifted Wednesday morning. More issues in the town of Fonda. Some residents remain under a boil water advisory after a new water main break. This comes after major issues earlier this summer.

The township of Mount Olive lifted its water boil advisory on Friday, two days after it was put in place due to E. coli being found in its water systems. Samples taken last week found traces of the bacteria in the town’s Main Water System and Village Green Water System.

Residents of Meadowlands, Minnesota have are still under a boil water advisory from the Minnesota Department of Health after a bacterial test discovered E. coli in the the town's drinking water last week.
