If you were hoping to see the “mini moon,” you’ve probably been disappointed. But experts say the asteroid was an important milestone in planetary defense research.

Orbiting our planet in a horseshoe-shape, the moon will eventually return to a heliocentric orbit, which is around the Sun. This will mean us on Earth will no longer be able to see the 'second moon', with it not being predicted to return into Earth's orbit again until 2055.

Here’s the deal: On Sept. 29 Earth’s gravity snagged a “mini moon” and pulled it into our orbit. This second moon is technically an asteroid called 2024 PT5. According to astronomers, the moon is way too small and far away to be seen by the naked eye, but astrologers think it could impact the astrological landscape in quite a few ways.
