Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly & Co. announced promising results from a large study of its own tablet in diabetes patients last month.

The momentum is now with Lilly. Visible Alpha, a data firm, expects its sales of obesity drugs to overtake Novo’s by 2027 (see chart 2). Lilly’s edge rests on a more effective drug, better execution, keener pricing and a stronger pipeline.

(Reuters) -The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has accepted Novo Nordisk's marketing application for an oral version of its weight-loss drug Wegovy and will decide in the fourth quarter, the Danish drugmaker said on Friday. The company's experimental once-daily version will become the first oral GLP-1 for chronic weight management, if approved.
