Congressman Jamaal Bowman denied pulling the fire alarm to stall a vote on a funding bill to avert a government shutdown

The House voted Thursday to formally censure Rep. Jamaal Bowman, D-N.Y., for pulling a fire alarm in September during government shutdown talks.

The resolution was sponsored by Rep. Lisa C. McClain (R-Mich.), secretary of the House Republican conference, who said that Bowman had “knowingly pulled a fire alarm to cause chaos.”

The House has voted to censure Democratic Rep. Jamaal Bowman for triggering a fire alarm in a U.S. Capitol office building when the chamber was in session.
