A Harvard school of Public Health professor spoke out after scathing internal reports unveiled antisemitism and islamophobia at one of America's top universities.

Harvard said it “cannot absorb the entire cost” of research funds lost in federal cuts but would dedicate $250 million to support research affected by the government’s pullback.

Harvard’s two reports, on anti-Semitism and anti-Muslim bias, were undertaken at Garber’s instruction in January 2024. Preliminary reports were available in June; the full reports were supposed to be released in the fall. They were not. Then, they missed their next anticipated release in early April 2025.

When the Ivy League school rejected the Trump White House’s demands, the administration froze $2.2 billion in federal funds, including grants. Harvard is fighting back: It sued the administration alleging they were in the violation of the First Amendment and Civil Rights Act.

Less than two weeks after Harvard University pledged to take action in response to internal reports on antisemitism and anti-Arab prejudice at the Ivy League campus, a group delivered 452 discrimination complaints on Monday.

Harvard University President Alan Garber attempted to reassure the Trump administration that he is pursuing “needed reforms” to how the school addresses antisemitism as it seeks to recoup billions of dollars in federal funding.
