Warning sirens rang in northern Israel soon and Lebanese media reported strikes in the country's south. Israel's Ben Gurion International Airport outside Tel Aviv began diverting incoming flights and delaying others due to takeoff Sunday after the Israeli airstrikes in Lebanon.

Lebanese group Hezbollah announced on Sunday that it had launched drone and missile attacks deep into Israel in response to the assassination of its leader, Fuad Shukur. The announcement came after the Israeli Army launched a preemptive strike,

The attack illustrates that Hezbollah is trying to up the threshold of its attacks and create a new kind of “norm” in the north, such that fifty or 100 rockets fired in a day may become a norm.
