Israeli air strikes hit the southern suburbs of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, on October 6. Israel had earlier urged locals to evacuate the area, which is a traditional stronghold for Hezbollah, an Iran-backed organization that has been designated by the United States as a terror group.

Hezbollah said its militants launched Fadi-1 rockets on Saturday at Israel's Ramat David air base near the northern city of Haifa, about 45 kilometres (30 miles) from the Lebanese border.
