Eleven Palestinians seeking aid were among at least 33 killed by Israeli gunfire and strikes across Gaza on Wednesday, rescuers and medics say.A spokesman for the Hamas-run civil defence agency said Israeli forces "opened fire and launched several shells" at thousands of people who were queuing for desperately needed food supplies on the main Salah al-Din Road.

The Israeli army killed at least 42 Palestinians, including several people seeking to reach food, in attacks in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday, medics said. Seven people were killed and four others injured in a strike targeting a gathering of civilians in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, a medical source said.

Israeli gunfire and strikes killed at least 140 people across Gaza in the past 24 hours, local health officials said, as some Palestinians in the Strip said their plight was being forgotten as attention has shifted to the air war between Israel and Iran.
