New York City Mayor Eric Adams has chosen two women to replace top legal counsel positions in his administration. The embattled mayor announced Tuesday that he intends to nominate Muriel Goode-Trufant as the new corporate counsel.

It's a question facing New Yorkers and Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul after a federal grand jury indicted Adams earlier this week.

Mayor Eric Adams on Tuesday announced that he will nominate Muriel Goode-Trufant to become New York City’s top lawyer. Adams will nominate Goode-Trufant for the position of corporation counsel in the New York City Law Department.

The appointments aim to fill two key vacancies in New York City government — and show the mayor can still run the city while he's under indictment.
