San Diego officials said multiple people are dead after the plane crashed in a neighborhood, causing multiple residences and cars to catch fire.

SAN DIEGO — A small plane crashed into a neighborhood in Tierrasanta early Thursday morning, according to the San Diego Police Department. Police said the incident happened around 4 a.m., at the intersection of Sample and Salmon Street. Crews are on the scene of the crash, working to put out a fire at a two-story residence.

Multiple people on board a private plane that crashed into a San Diego neighborhood early Thursday were killed, authorities said. Assistant Fire Department Chief Dan Eddy said during a news conference that they will be investigating whether the plane hit a power line. No one on the ground was injured, he said.
