Much of Louisiana is bracing for potentially damaging weather. The National Weather Service says, “Severe thunderstorms are expected to develop beginning Saturday morning and continuing into the late evening hours.

Isolated tornadoes will be possible

The National Weather Service issued multiple tornado and severe thunderstorm warnings early Saturday for areas in Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana and Texas.

The threat of violent tornadoes in parts of the U.S. proved deadly as well as destructive as whipping winds moved east into the Mississippi Valley and Deep South on Saturday, with at least 16 people killed and scores of homes decimated.

Severe storms are on the way this weekend and have the potential for unleashing powerful tornadoes and destructive hail across the South. A "squall line of storms" will begin to develop Friday afternoon in the central U.
