Donald Trump has been urged to pressure Russia with further sanctions, after Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelensky warned Vladimir Putin is “trying to buy time” to continue his war.The US president insisted progress had been made after his two-hour call with the Russian president on Monday.

“Russia and Ukraine will immediately start negotiations toward a Ceasefire and, more importantly, an END to the War.”

Olena Boiko, 41, called Mr. Trump’s diplomatic effort to bring the conflict to a halt a “theatrical performance that has nothing to do with the reality of trenches or bomb shelters.”
