An overnight Russian drone and missile attack in and around Kyiv killed one person, sparked fires in residential areas and damaged an entrance to a metro station that serves as a bomb shelter, Ukrainian authorities said on Monday.

Ukraine says the attack damaged six of the city's 10 districts, including several apartment buildings. Rescue teams are searching for people trapped under the rubble.

At least seven people were killed and more than two dozen injured after Russian drones and missiles struck Kyiv and its surrounding region overnight, Ukrainian officials said on Monday.
