Major General Vladimir Zavadsky was reportedly killed this week, the latest high-ranking official to die in Ukraine.

Ukrainian intelligence was behind the explosion of a freight train in Russia’s Far East, according to an official familiar with the operation, an attack that would extend the agency’s reach deep into Siberia.

Ukraine's military on Wednesday reported its forces had conducted successful missile strikes on three Russian command posts and two ammunition warehouses. Ukraine's General Staff of the Armed Forces said in an update posted on Facebook that Kyiv's military had been involved in 73 "combat clashes" during the day.

Storms have battered southern and eastern Ukraine, as well as parts of Russia, reportedly hampering Moscow’s campaign around Avdiivka.

A Russian general has reportedly been blown up by a landmine along the front line in Ukraine. Major General Vladimir Zavadsky, deputy commander of the 14th Army Corps, was said to have stepped on the explosive on Tuesday.
