The Texas Department of State Health Services on Friday, reported 597 measles cases in the state since late January, an increase of 36 since the update on Tuesday.

State health officials said fewer than 30 of the cases identified by the state were considered "actively infectious."

U.S. measles cases topped 700 Friday, and two children and an adult have died. Texas and five other states have active outbreaks.
