The GOP presidential nominee endorsed a commission that could give Musk responsibilities for auditing federal spending and regulations, marking another area of collaboration in the run-up to November’s election.

Former President Donald Trump on Thursday backed a government efficiency commission proposed by Elon Musk, as he unveiled his economic plan in a speech in New York, and said the world’s richest person has already agreed to lead the commission under a Trump administration if the former president wins the election in November.

The Republican presidential nominee said that if reelected, he would create a commission to audit federal spending headed by the tech billionaire.
