Russia on Sunday said its forces had advanced in eastern Ukraine as Kyiv reported deadly air attacks and urged the West to allow it to carry out more retaliatory strikes inside Russia. Russian attack drones flying towards Ukraine also breached the airspace of NATO members Romania and Latvia,

Drone debris was found next to the parliament building. It is rare for a Russian missile or drone to get so far into central Kyiv, as the city is protected by Soviet-era and Western-donated defense systems.

Ukraine's incursion into Kursk thwarted Russia's own cross-border attack plans from the region, Ukrainian army chief Oleksandr Syrskyi told CNN.
