Thujas can get quite large, up to 40 feet in height and 6 to 12 feet wide, but they respond well to pruning if you want to adjust their size. The green giant arborvitae is a large, vigorous, fast-growing evergreen. Its natural pyramidal to conical form boasts dense, rich green foliage that darkens or bronzes slightly in the winter. This is an exceptional landscape tree for use as a screen, hedge or single specimen. It is also resistant to wind once established and can withstand heavy ice or snow, making it a good choice for a natural windbreak. Select a site that receives full sun to partial shade. However, know that your Green Giants will grow more quickly in full sunlight. Six hours of direct sunlight a day will suffice.
