Dawn Redwoods (metasequoia glyptostroboides) were "rediscovered" in a temple in China in early 20th century. Redwoods are one of the worlds tallest and mightiest species and can now be enjoyed at your own home and will simply stun any onlookers. The Dawn Redwood, a native of Manchuria China. Thought to be extinct, but re-discovered in the 1940's. The Dawn Redwood is a true Redwood. Like our Redwoods they are a living fossil an isolated "relic" species from a long time ago. Seeds were introduced in the U.S. in 1948, & have been increasingly popular as an ornamental tree. The Dawn Redwood also differs in that it is deciduous. In the fall the light green sprays turn yellow, then bronze, and fall off. Produces 5-6mm long cones during spring. Keep outdoors Suitable humidity tray is recommended. Some of these are one of a kind styled trees.
