Uses Glipizide/Metformin combines two different medications. It is prescribed to lower sugar, as an add-on to diet and exercise in patients with Type 2 Diabetes. Glipizide/Metformin is available as a tablet to be taken by mouth. Cautions Glipizide/Metformin may cause severe low sugar. This is more likely to occur when a meal is skipped or after prolonged exercise. It is also more likely to occur in older patients or patients with other underlying health conditions. How to use Glipizide/Metformin is taken with the morning and evening meal (if dosed twice daily). Possible side effects Glipizide/Metformin may cause nausea and vomiting, and stomach pain. Speak with your healthcare provider if you experience these or any other symptoms. Missed dose Take the medicine as soon as you can, skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose.
