Uses Ibuprofen provides pain relief for migraine headaches, minor aches and pain due to headache, the common cold, muscle aches, , menstrual cramps, and toothache. Ibuprofen also helps reduce fever. Ibuprofen is available as a tablet (chewable and non-chewable), a capsule/softgel, and a suspension to be taken by mouth. Ibuprofen is also available as an intravenous solution and a 10% cream. Cautions Ibuprofen may cause your body to retain fluid (edema) - this may lead to increased blood pressure. Ibuprofen should be used with caution if you have high blood pressure or a history of cardiac decompensation. How to use The dosage of Ibuprofen varies based upon age (and weight in children) and is taken in divided doses (3 to 4 times per day). Ibuprofen should be taken with food or milk to lessen the likelihood of stomach upset/damage. Possible side effects Taking Ibuprofen may cause decreased hemoglobin levels, edema(fluid retention), dizziness, skin rash, and stomach pain. Missed dose Take the medicine as soon as you can, skip the missed dose if it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take two doses at one time.
