It grows slowly to be between 5 and 10 feet tall after ten years, and it stays only a foot or two wide, even if you never trim it. Use it in beds as an accent, among boulders, on slopes, and in rock gardens. It is perfect in containers and planter boxes, and ideal for framing entrances and fitting between windows. - Compact, neat golden exclamation point - 5 to 10 feet tall, but just a foot or two wide - Golden foliage in spring, summer and fall - Hardy down to minus 40 degrees - Grows well even in very poor, rocky soil The Gold Cone Juniper grows from zone 3 into less-humid regions in zone 7, thriving in cold places and on poor soil. It should be planted in full sun for the best color, and it grows in any well-drained soil, even poor rocky ones, and sandy gravels. It will of course also grow in regular garden soil. It has no important pests or diseases, and it can be trimmed or not, depending on how formal and neat a look you want. Deer ignore it and it is happy in difficult urban locations too.
